How to hatch your first online pet
First collect both adult game variants of the same animal, favorite them and make a pair. Care for the pair on three calendar dates to produce an egg. Egg care starts the next calendar date: the first egg requires three care checks, and later eggs require ten.
Your companion is earned by completing care. The example baby on the homepage is a preview of the experience. It does not add an adult, egg or hatch reward to your save. For the complete encounter and pairing walkthrough, read the collecting guide.
Common, Uncommon, Rare and Legendary babies
A hatch chooses and saves its appearance once. Replaying the hatch shows the earned baby again; it does not reroll its rarity. Older saved appearances stay attached to their earned rewards.
| Hatch rarity | Chance for each new rarity-enabled hatch | Game appearance |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 88.9% | Original baby design |
| Uncommon | 10% | Red, blue or pink design according to the game's diet category |
| Rare | 1% | Ruby, sapphire or emerald design according to the game's diet category |
| Legendary | 0.1% | Gold design |
These probabilities apply to each eligible hatch; repeated care does not promise a Rare or Legendary result. Colors, gemstones, gold effects and rarity categories are collectible designs rather than evidence for an animal's real appearance.
Meet your browser companion
A browser companion lives on the DinoGrove page. Opening it, playing a pose or replaying a hatch adds no care days and grants no extra collecting claims. Your reward remains in Babies when you close the companion.
- Open Babies. Visit Favorites and choose the Babies tab to see your earned rewards and hatch history.
- Open the companion. Choose Open browser companion on an earned baby. Where animated artwork is available, the pet uses its saved poses. If animation is unavailable for that appearance, the website can show its original static illustration.
- Move and greet it. Drag the companion to move it, or stroke or click it to pet it. Right-click to open its action menu, which includes a way to close the pet.
Keyboard controls and motion preferences
Focus the companion, then press Shift+F10 to open its actions. Enter or Space pets it; the left and right arrow keys move it. Escape closes the companion. The menu's keyboard controls let you choose actions without right-clicking.
The companion respects a reduced-motion preference and can rest. Its menu provides Play or Rest controls where animation is available. Play lets you explicitly resume animation when you want it.
Your appearance and artwork stay connected
Babies includes hatch history, Replay hatch and the matching earned-artwork download when that artwork is available. Depending on the appearance, the download is a transparent PNG or an animation atlas. Keep the saved appearance rather than expecting a new result from replay.
If matching artwork cannot be verified, the website keeps the earned reward and reports that its artwork is unavailable. You can retry when it is restored. Windows companion downloads are unavailable in the current public release.
Guest babies belong to that browser save; an account collection follows your sign-in across devices. Keep a separate backup from Save & backup in Favorites. Collecting is a beta feature, and updates may affect progress or rewards.
Fictional pets, traceable prehistoric profiles
Pairing, eggs, care timers, baby proportions and companion gestures are fictional. A game egg does not establish that the animal laid eggs in life. Each baby links to its research profile, where the sources distinguish fossil evidence from interpretation.
Explore your companion's real prehistoric relatives through the exhibits, then return to its saved game appearance whenever you want a little company.
